We finally have time to write about our amazing honeymoon that we took three months late. We don't get to see our families often so we decided that we would like to spend Christmas with them and then take a honeymoon at another time that was unknown to us. So, spring break 2009 rolled around to where Cody's and mine landed at the same time. We decided to take this time to spend time together and to go ahead and take our honeymoon....to Disney World!!!! Cody had never been to DW, and I hadn't been there since I was five-so it only seemed fitting to take a fun vacation and honeymoon that we would both enjoy and still not cost TOO much. It was off to Disney World for us right after we went to watch Newberry basketball play in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament. Both teams were out after the first game, so our trip came a day earlier than expected!
My dad was already in Tampa that week for work, so we planned to meet up with them a couple times since we were staying with my dad's twin sister and her husband in Orlando. This was how our days went for the trip...
Saturday: Late night driving to Charleston to stay at the house I rent out with my friend while I'm in school. We got there late, and of course Cody drove.
Sunday: We didn't get up extra early or anything but we just got on the road when were ready. I don't remember exactly what time it was, but I think it was around 10:00 or 11:00 in the morning. We spent the day driving and stopped at the rest area right inside of Florida to take a couple pictures after all the foreigners got theirs done. Then we made our way through St. Augustine and Orlando where we stopped at the Under Armour Outlet (BIG SUPRISE....us buying UA apparel...pause pause pause....NOT). After we did some damage at the UA outlet, we headed over to Tampa to meet my parents for the night to stay at the hotel my dad was staying.
Monday: We didn't get up early or anything, but we did get to the park in plenty of time to do everything that we wanted to all day. We started off by parking close to Grumpy (perfect spot for me to park), and we made our way to Epcot first on the monorail. While on the monorail, some older gentleman (maybe early 30s) began yelling at his father about him leading them onto the wrong monorail...then he proceeded to carry onto the rest of the car why he didn't understand why it was called a MONOrail when there was more than one rail train. He went on and on yelling about it while the rest of the car bit their tongues. Finally, a woman who was sitting near the father (not related to them) spoke up and said, "It's because it rides on one rail." He had no right to be yelling at his father the way he was when he was the one who had his head phones on not speaking to his family much...lol. Served him right! HAHA! While we were at Epcot we got plenty of pictures with the characters and of course rode the Test Track. We enjoyed that a lot, but had some time to spare since we had done everything there that we wanted to do. We then headed over to Hollywood Studios for some more fun. We got a bite to share since we just needed something to hold us over until dinner. We rode the Tower of Terror...then Rock'n Rollercoaster (which is now my ALL TIME favorite rollercoaster ride!)...then we headed back to Tower of Terror where we had gotten a FastPass before leaving the first time. After that, I was done riding rides for a while. Poor Cody...he has to deal with a wife that can't ride too many rollercoasters without getting sick. Ever since physics my senior year and riding the Scream Machine three times in a row without getting out of the car, I can't help but get motion sickness after only a couple of rides. I hate it! I love to ride rides....but I just can't. I made sure to take plenty of motion sickness pills and even tried these acupuncture wrist bands (but on this day I was only wearing the wrist bands). Then, we headed out to eat with my aunt and uncle, then it was off to their house to spend the night in Orlando!!! Day one....GREAT SUCCESS!!!
Tuesday: We got up and got to the park about the same time...maybe 1:00...but this time, we rode the ferri over to Magic Kingdom! I was in Heaven I think! I was like a kid in the candy store...so excited because they have Splash Mountain (my overall FAVORITE ride that isn't a rollercoaster)...and Space Mountain. When we got there, they were doing their singing and show right in front of the castle, which was a lot of fun to watch! I got a TON of character pictures and they did such a great job! Then, we headed out to do some riding! We hit up Splash Mountain and Space Mountain twice each. But, there was enough time in between rides, because we alternated which ride we were going on, that I didn't have to worry about getting sick. We did a lot of walking and hit up most of the other rides there that were big enough for us BIG kids...and Day 2 was another GREAT SUCCESS! This night was the night that we watched the fireworks, which we kind of left a little early so we didn't get stuck in huge crowds. And boy do we wish we had some pedometers!!!! We do now!!! I'm sure we walked a good 15 miles...easily!
Wednesday: We didn't go to any parks this day, instead we went back to Tampa (after we stopped again at UA). We went to Spaghetti Warehouse (one of my favorites) with my parents and some other family...and recovered from the first two days of our honeymoon...so far...everything was perfect!!!!
Thursday: My brother also had the same spring break as us, so my family (minus Andrea and Matthew), went to Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios. We rode as many rides as we could...and I got to ride about 4 before I started feeling sick...so after the 5th one, I tapped out. We walked around the entire park and then headed to eat. While I was feeling bad, we went to get some food at Hard Rock Cafe...rock on Denver!!!! After that, Cody went with my dad and brother and his friend to Universal Studios to ride Men In Black which was pretty awesome....but I wouldn't find out until the next day. While they did that, my mom and I walked around City Walk which was worth it. Islands of Adventure was so much fun!!!!!!!! Another day and another GREAT SUCCESS!!!!
Friday: We went back to IOA and Universal Studios. Mainly, we hit up rides in Universal Studios first. All of them were awesome...The Mummy was awesome...Men In Black (three times) was awesome...The Simpsons (3D....not good for me...so I shut my eyes the whole time)...and then we made our way back to IOA...where we rode The Hulk again (another AWESOME ride)!!!! Then, it was off again to Hard Rock Cafe...for some more great food! As the day was coming to a close, Cody and I went to ride the water rides after getting lost and finding this talking fountain that was hilarious! (A couple water rides my parents rode when they knew they wouldn't get wet). We brought extra clothes so we could get wet on the water rides. Then...we called it quits. The final day on our honeymoon...another GREAT SUCCESS!!!!! I drove us out of Orlando and Cody somehow made it until 3 am which was what time he got us back home. We had such a great time!!!! But....all good things must come to an end....now, we are taking our neice for her birthday present down to Disney World...at 8 yrs old..she should love it. I know I still do!!! Cody enjoyed it for his first time being there. We'd do it again!
