Cody is off to MEPS/BCT/ and AIT!!!

Cody left last Monday for North Carolina which is where his whole story begins! Cody discussed with me back before we got married that he didn't feel like his life would be complete until he served his country. He talked to a couple friends and decided that the National Guard was a great fit for him. He is gone to basic training for 10 weeks and then it is off to Officer Training School (AIT) for 4 weeks. So far, I have talked to him on the phone two times since he has been at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. It is so hard being away from each other. He said that he regrets his decision every hour whereas other guys are saying they regret it each day. We don't regret his decision. Not an ounce of regret. Sure, it stinks being away from him, but he is becoming a much stronger man than he already was. He is doing what he has always wanted, and I am so proud of him for that. His whole family is proud of him for doing what he is doing. I never realized how lucky I was (although, I never took advantage of the time we had together) until he left for the summer. He will be unable to call/communicate with us for the first two or three weeks because that is the time where they break you down to build you back up. As of yesterday, he had yet to head to basic training - which is taking place tomorrow. I can't wait for him to get home!!! I will update when he updates me...which won't be often. He will be able to have his cell phone during his officer training...which will be awesome!!!!
